Sweet Caroline is first played between innings at a Red Sox game in Fenway Park.

The song by Neil Diamond is played to honor Caroline Fitzpatrick, the newborn daughter of a Red Sox control room employee. It is then played only during games when the Red Sox are winning, but eventually comes to be played at every home game in the middle of the eighth inning.
